Habnith

The village round a pond lies in a depression south of Marktleuthen and has about 160 inhabitants.
It was mentioned in a record already in 1368. The first settlement however must be much earlier because the forest law of the town Eger mentions already in 1379 that "the village >Habnicht< was founded round a farm which existed for time out of mind".
The village is located at the former mail-road from Wunsiedel to Hof also named the Regensburg Road. The relics of this road you can see as sunken road near the byway to Holzmuehl.
The house with the little tower is the former school built in 1851. In the past there were teached pupils from Neudes, Holzmuehl, Hebanz and Karolinenhain.
