Neumühle (Neumuehle)

is located in the Eger valley upstream of Marktleuthen. In 1610 here was built a mill which changed its owners frequently. In 1889 the brothers Christoph and Jakob Vates from Hebanz bought it. They closed down the corn mill and used the water power of the Eger to drive a stone grinding. Round this in the following years there were built some factory- and residential buildings. This stone grinding worked until 1975. Since that year it became quiet in Neumühle. About 35 inhabitants live there now and because of the position in a narrow part of the valley there are no farms.
Quite near is a high steep rock grouping which is called "Hirschsprung (deer jump)".
Also nearby at the road to Marktleuthen is located the "Eckenmühle (Eckenmuehle)", a former mill and sawmill which also used the water power.
